Welcome Back!! Please feel free to volunteer in as many areas as you are capable of handling. Your volunteer efforts are key to helping the educational process at Green run smoothly. Any amount of time that you can spend will be greatly appreciated! Please check any areas that interest you and submit this form by Tuesday, August 30th.

Room Parent

One parent is needed per classroom to organize volunteers for various classroom duties, to assist the teacher in various classroom activities and to communicate with parents. Room Parent responsibilities include:

- Create a Class Flag
- Assist Teachers in ordering the Class Shirt
- Assisting the Staff Appreciation Coordinators with "Staff Appreciation Week" activities (May)
- Coordinate a class holiday gift & birthday gift for your teacher and an assigned "adopted" staff member

Party Parent

One parent is needed per classroom to work with the teacher to plan, manage, and collect funds for the three, scheduled classroom parties during the school year. The party parent will provide party ideas, purchase materials needed for the parties with the collected funds, manage parties & coordinate party volunteers. Also, the party parents (in the same grade level) will plan the parties together.

Volunteers are needed to assist the teacher in the classroom with special projects, bulletin boards, copies, tutoring, reading, or any other project preparations. You may also be called upon to help in the classroom with parties or special activities.

Parents who work full time and/or have small children at home and cannot volunteer at the school are encouraged to volunteer in this capacity. He/she may be called upon to bring supplies for a party, to assist with phone calls or emails regarding classroom activities, or to help prepare materials for classroom instruction.

Junior Achievement

Junior Achievement is a program designed to give children a better understanding of the relationship between school and successful participation in their community and how economics impacts our lives as workers, consumers, and citizens. Volunteers attend an off-site training session and are given the materials to teach five 30-40 minute lessons to a class. If you work full or part time, check with your employer, as many corporations encourage their employees to participate in the JA program.

Computer Lab

The teachers need volunteers to help accompany and assist children during their computer lab time. Some computer knowledge would be helpful, but not necessary.

Volunteers are needed to make copies and laminate projects for the teachers. We will be making a "Copy Parent" schedule for volunteers to come to the school and work on projects located in the copy room, requested by the teachers.

The library needs volunteers to help with shelving, locating, cataloging, checking out books, and special projects. Parents are needed to help maintain equipment as it is checked back into the library.

Staff Appreciation



Volunteers are needed to assist the Staff Appreciation Coordinators during the school year. If you like to bake and/or cook, this is a great opportunity. The Staff Appreciation Coordinators will contact you from time to time during the school year to provide special treats for staff luncheons.

Chess Club



Assist with the Chess Club.

Spirit Store



Volunteers are needed to help collect and distribute orders for t-shirts and other spirit items.

Destination Imagination



This is a competition among teams of students with the goal of solving a difficult problem. Coaches and Assistant Coaches are needed to lead individual teams. Meetings are after school and usually begin in September.

Box Tops



Volunteers are needed to help collect box tops from classrooms, count box tops, assist in classroom contests, and distribute prizes to classrooms. This is a great volunteer opportunity for those with little ones at home.

Environmental



Volunteers are needed to help the chairperson with on-going environmental and recycling events throughout the school year.

Literacy Motivation



New creative writing program at Green that will have the kids authoring and illustrating books that will be published and housed in our library. Volunteers needed who can come to school and work with the kids on editing and organizing their stories and also work from home typing and scanning the manuscripts.

Fall Volunteer Opportunities
Brick Sales

Assist with the sale of our "Walk of Fame" bricks. Also assist with the delivery of the bricks in late Fall.

Safety Patrol

Volunteers are needed during the first two weeks of school to help in the mornings and afternoons. Volunteers will assist students in getting out of their cars and help walking students and parents cross the crosswalk safely.

Reflections

Reflections is a nationwide PTA sponsored art competition. Students K-12 are encouraged to submit original works in the categories of art, poetry, short stories, music and photography. Volunteers are needed to assist the chairperson with advertising, application review, and artwork organization.
